The medical mess around Ritalin, ADD, ADHD

A bit more research on Ritalin, yelled some mixed reports that really concerns me.
Ritalin death
Ritalin side effects
Ritalin's habit forming quality is classified as a Schedule II drug, along side with cocaine, meth, opium... my medical friend called it "legalized meth."

I saw a forum where parents with hyper active children were ordered by the school to give ritalin to their children even though they hated to give such a drug to their kids.
Two year old being given Ritalin (2009)
My son' s ADHD

While it worked for a few, most others reported more side effects, and some report suggest at the end of the day, kids who took the drug were no different from those who didn't?

----

Then why did the school ask parents to drug their kids?
A: Because the teachers were ordered by the parents not to even "touch" the student so if the student's unruly, there were no system implemented to deal with them, this is just for regular active kids, I believe it doesn't need to be a true ADHD case to get this kind of note. As many kids have different reasons to be unruly, some might be really have problem, others are just plain being kids.

How I weaned my son off Ritalin with old fashion discipline(I say her son probably has autism...discipline/coping skills can do a lot)

----

Then why did the doc give kids drugs without proper testing to see if they really need it?

A: The regulation and condition for using the drug is not properly established, the terms are too general, and ritalin was believed to be a safe drug. (I believe in a few years it will be more properly used or reserved for only server cases which it was meant to be. Or banned...)

Thirdly, this troubles me... my medical friend told me in some hospitals practices... docs have to prescribe a drug to their patient even if the patient does not need it, fearing lawsuits or patient getting upset at the doc for only giving words of advice instead of something physical aka Drug to comfort them.

Due to this a lot of drugs are over-prescribed. X_X

And those who took Ritalin, the effects of it on the developing brain has yet to be studied but it does seem to make them more pron to depression and more reliant on other drugs later.

After knowing this... my reaction is WTBEEEP* This is just.... so.... WRONG.

I have wanted to say this before... "When everyone wants their RIGHTS, everything can go dead WRONG."

Sounds like everyone is forced to act some way, or another, and in the end, the ones suffering are the kids and the next generation. And in a sense we are all pussies, being pushed by the overall system but we aren't doing anything or can't do anything about it.
I still think there's a choice.

If a doctor is forced to give drugs, but the doc can still tell the patient they don't really need it or adjust the dosage on their own or stop, at his or her own risk of being sued, but why would he/she want that?
(actually I think I read up some docs did do this... bravo to them. o.o)

A teacher can still choose to discipline the kid for being unruly with wisdom, but why would the teacher want to risk career for that?
(last I know a teacher called up the radio before saying he kicked a table to stop a fight, he had to pay for it though)

A parent can research and use the drug more carefully and not buy into the whole deal and work it out differently, but the parent might be too fearful, ignorant or too uncertain? "Oh, the professionals said so therefore it must be truth."

(and there are parents who did do their own research and made it work.)

I hope most people dealing with this issue already have a better idea about these drugs, use with caution, and don't give their kids what doesn't work.

I see it more as "because they said so, so its cool and I don't really need to care"

even when a kid doesn't have mental problems they're still being mistreated by undisciplined parents who have 'more important' things to do.

as for doctors over prescribing, I get why it is, so many people feel like popping a pill is more helpful then general healthy life changes. Or that they want a quick fix.
