My own wallpaper-first one in years

I have used other people's art as wallpaper for years now, for the purpose of study... now i think i need my own art, to remind me of my original feeling for my thesis, when i am crunching

Sculptures

Played around with sculpty with my friends, fell in love with this new medium. :)
Unfortunately i can't get a very good shot on them, so i have to edit them like crazy. There are other sculptures I made I need to take pictures later. I didn't put up the Chris/Lien one because i am not where i am happy with him yet. :P

Angel is not finished... I think i will redo her, plan better and do a full body with sculpty as my clay of choice. :P I am not used to this enough to use air-dry clay. Getting serious with this medium, i might purchase better tools in order to do more detailed work.

Seeking my own illustration style...

I may have a drawing style already set, and my habits with the lines, but i can't say i have an illustration style set yet.

Previously, my goal was to stretch my patience, now i think I have achieved that, 20-30 hours plus pictures to me is no longer a problem. Anything more than that is typically not required in the illustration biz.

The next goal of study is to learn how to move people's heart for that first 1 second impression, that's really all it takes.... the first second of encounter with the piece, if the person's heart is moved, this piece is popular.

What moves people's heart? Based on DA crowd is...

1. Weightlessness- a sense of flight, that always, always gets the general audience. It's a common desire to fly for humans.

2. Warm colors- people prefer warm over cool.

3. Use blur and shine...... I think that gets the girl crowd.... but if you are drawing girls, it gets the boys too, blur and shines, always, always work.

4. Stringy details, stringy hair, feathers, patterns on clothing, yeah, that gets the girl crowd, applies to boys if you are drawing girls. It doesn't have to be details that take THAT much time, just having it in strategic places is good enough.

5. Believable texture- use in moderation helps.

6. Finished quality- a working composition and finished look works well.

That's about it, this is for character art.... for environment is... stick to the warm elements in the housing, castles, cottages are popular subjects, while cold factories need to have grand details and glows and lits.

Continue to study....

the moving painting

As a person who's attracted to traditional fine arts skill and concept art... I think the concept of moving painting like "The old man and the sea" is just too attractive not to try. I am taking it into the digital realm.

Reusing my old paintings... XD since my concept is very similar to my other pieces. lol

Guess how many drawings so far?

117 drawings. Yep. 117 for a freaken walk. OTL

A lot of software and timing issue.... first is flash won't take the whole pan, so i had to bring it into AF and render it out into jpg sequence, bring it back to flash to animate, then i have to match Jeremy's movement with the pan, a slight miss it's missed. DANG IT. How did it become so complicated? I attempted to animate in photoshop but its too slow.... photoshop may have AF timeline, but none of its convenience.

He's looking too tense now i need to change that. I want to better the pan but unfortunately doing that will make me have to go back and tweak every drawing, i am not doing it.

Not about title... really...

Working in animation and film making does really make me realize further what's already truth to me.

it's really not about the title, one can easily be a director on a project they started, but really about people.

Title is for marketing.

I am thinking to help out a few graduates for their short films later. It's again... projects without money.... but i value those indie projects, and i know short film is hard to complete on their own without help.

Especially those with the same dreams as I am, with the same discipline, I can't sit by and not help them.

Now the question is... with myself so busy, how do i find the time....hmmm

its ok! I have my online recruited assistants to help me out. XD (Thank God they exist)
